The Self Poisoner  by Frank Andrick
” my limbs grow heavy and my sight grows dim “
The last words of Socrates
I too as the self poisoner by my blood
One who is not to be
Conspiracy of heredity, decay into death
I have watched with these two eyes
This is not the future I expected
Between the stubborn brain and the faultless mind
I would kill death if I could
My eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the end
It can be heard in hallway journeys on gurneys
The halls of insight
I want to create
That’s gods work
Pen to paper, brush and pencil,
picture to photo assemblages
I am almost ready to go
I am always ready to know
I am…
The flower and the flame
The feast and the famine
The darkness and the light
The victor and the vanquished
The desert and the sea
The despair and the hope
In me lives the death and the resurrection
The death and the resurrection
Thru this life and thru time
Recognize me, see me now
The Self Poisoner
And echo of Baudelaire’s self tormentor
The Self Poisoner
the same blood that once brought me into life
Now brings me to death.
I circulate these poisons
Where we go… We shed skin
Become light, Speak in colors
Live Forever…
Dante called it Paradiso
