There’s a low point
in the yard, a depression,
a smooth hollow
where moist feelings
puddle after storms.

It’s a tender place,
hardened from time’s
impress that holds on
while everything else
basks in new sunlight,
sways to the kiss
of a kinder breeze,
& seems to get on
with life’s leveling.
