About

If you asked how this project came about…

Dime Show Review is born from a dream. Yes, an in-the-bed, under-the-covers dream. I saw a circus poster in a reference from the Library of Congress dating from the 1880’s. Back then, the traveling circus was great entertainment. Intrigue, mystery, and a place to hang out with your friends. This is how the idea for Dime Show Review came to light.

B.A. Bamber’s Dime Show featured such interesting things as Art, Architecture, Fun…Electricity, Statuary… Can’t beat that. Today, Dime Show Review features stories and poetry and audio by emerging as well as established authors. Excellent writing is the focus. Drool-worthy goodness meant to be savored again and again. Need a ticket to get you where you’re going? Try the Dime Show Ticket Lady for writing prompts. Only have a minute? Visit the Typewriter Gallery for stories ten words in length or believe it or not, fewer.

Dime Show Review went live on March 25, 2016 with a poem by Katie Quarles. Immediately following were short stories by Frederick K. Foote and Patricia Wentzel. This dream turned labor of love is an online engine for stories, poems, writing prompts and audio. A print publication will follow soon, as well as an audio book series. Kae Sable is the managing editor, audio production engineer and the chief instigator for this project.

We have volunteer readers and supporters of Dime Show Review, including photography by talented people like Terri Malone, Matt Tran, Larry Thacker and more.

Dime Show Ticket Lady writing prompts are exclusively that – a prompt to help move your writing forward. Sometimes, you just need a ticket to get where you’re going. Writing to one of our prompts will not improve your chances of publication. Dime Show Ticket Lady is merely a bootstrap tool. Materials published in this section belong exclusively to Dime Show Review. You can’t copy the material and use it as your own, but you may link to the page.

Grab an ice cream cone and sit down to your keyboard. If an idea or story is compelling enough to stick with you day and night, finish the piece, proof it with your friends, and submit it. Join the menagerie. You could win a goldfish — or publication in Dime Show Review.
