I sit here quietly
at ease in my recliner
aware of my good fortune

smiling contentedly
taking inventory of my life

my loving wife beside me
dotes on my care and health
my children and grands are great
visiting me often with hugs and kisses

living modestly but comfortably
in the heart of New York City where
everything is easily and quickly accessible

alive and sentient at 94 is
unusual even with a daily dozen pills
plus my trusty walker at my side for help

it’s been a long and happy road
and I must report that all is well ….so far
