Every original story or poem you write and submit is read by people who care about good writing. Selected stories and poems are published online at DimeShowReview.com on a rolling basis. All accepted work is considered for print. Print publications are generally released three times each year. Books are available via the Amazon worldwide network. There is no payout for accepted work.
Submit your story or poem using the Submittable tool. Although writing may originate from anywhere in the world, submissions must be in English. Dime Show Review publishes material meant for mature audiences and complies with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). Do not submit – anything – if you are thirteen (13) years old or younger.
- Fiction – should be a complete story, up to 3,000 words
- Flash Fiction – should be a complete story, up to 1,000 words
- Ten Word Stories – should be a complete story, exactly 10 words (limit 2)
- Poetry – any form, 2 poems (each poem should not run longer than 2 pages)

Please submit your best work. I know that’s a lot to ask, but we’re working hard to publish the best and most interesting original new work. We’re open to considering work of a literary nature, but will not consider any submission that degrades or demeans anyone. We’re just not interested in hate material.
Stories and poems are accepted via online submission from February 2 through November 1, annually. That gives us a break over the holidays. If you’re unable to submit online, you may send your story or poem via snail mail: P.O. Box 760, Folsom, California 95763-0760, USA. If your work has been published previously on Dime Show Review, please wait six months or more before re-submitting to give the rest of the world a chance.
Simultaneous submissions are acceptable. However, if your work is accepted elsewhere, do the right thing and let us know promptly. We are no longer accepting previously published work.
Response time: you can generally expect a response from Dime Show Review in two to twelve weeks. If three months goes by and you haven’t received a response, feel free to inquire about the status of your work [email protected].
Audio production is considered for published work and is not a requirement for submissions.
So, c’mon…join the menagerie. If stories and poems bubble at the center of your soul, write!

What genres do you accept?
Quality writing is a better gauge than genre. There is no specific topic or theme for submissions. However, it will be harder to impress with speculative fiction, vampires or unicorns. Hate-oriented submission will not be accepted. There is no room here for work that demeans anyone.
[…] Dime Show Review – this journal also made our flash fiction list (they take short stories too). They publish online and in print and they nominate for the Pushcart Prize. If your poem is accepted, there’s a chance you may also be selected for audio publication—a cool perk. Open for submissions until Wednesday, November 1, 2017. […]
How do I submit an audio file (fiction, under 10 minutes – just!)
Hi Gabi, Submissions are accepted in print first. With that acceptance, I can send parameters for audio recording. A good sound set-up is essential for quality sound. Recording on your phone isn’t going to work. There are good USB microphones that can attach to your computer or laptop, though. I’ve heard the Blue Yeti is a moderately priced, decent mic – I haven’t tried it, myself. You can reduce room echo by recording in a walk-in closet, or making a tent with blankets over your head – or recording via laptop in the car can work. The mic I use is an Audio Technica.

All authors retain ownership of accepted work. When publishing elsewhere, simply note that the piece was published originally in Dime Show Review and the year.
