Embers into Ash by Scott Thomas Outlar

Love is a little lazy lately,
so much so, in fact,
I’ve forgotten what it means
to seek such a state,
and life has become
a lesson in lounging
in lieu of acting,
which is all perfectly cool
as far as I’m concerned
because the last effort
that I made toward such ends
was met with ice,
and so I’d rather chill
than mess around with a fire
that leaves only burns.
