Mr. Spiffy’s Fun Show by Mike Murphy

The clown was a big hit! Danny, the birthday boy, laughed the hardest at his antics. Joe, Danny’s father, didn’t know how Mr. Spiffy managed to do all those pratfalls without hurting himself.

The sun shone brightly on his painted face as he waved around his special prop – a magician’s wand. Sitting cross-legged on the grass, the invited kids belly laughed when Mr. Spiffy used it to pretend to be a unicorn and a dog with a bone.

Smiling, Joe leaned over to his wife. “You sure made the right decision in hiring this guy for the party,” he said. “The kids love him.”

“Me?” Meghan asked, confused. “I thought. . . you hired him.”

Mr. Spiffy spun around quickly on his oversized red shoes, energetically waving the wand all about the yard. When he stopped, a large puff of smoke appeared.

And all the kids vanished.
