Alarm by Justin Herrmann
Justin Herrmann is the author of the short fiction collection Highway One, Antarctica (MadHat Press 2014). He is a graduate of the University of Alaska Anchorage’s MFA program. He spent 24 months working and living at McMurdo Station, Antarctica.
This ten word story was typed on a Triumph Du Jour manual typewriter c. 1940’s. Let’s call her Trudy. Beautiful, crisp type, this German-made machine is a sturdy and reliable friend. Homeliness aside, she’s a champ.
