Submission Guidelines

Every original story or poem you write and submit is read by people who care about good writing. Selected stories and poems are published online at on a rolling basis. A serial print publication is released three times each year. There is no payout for accepted work.

Submit your story or poem using the Submittable tool. Although writing may originate from anywhere in the world, submissions must be in English. Dime Show Review publishes material meant for mature audiences and complies with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). Do not submit – anything – if you are thirteen (13) years old or younger.

  • Fiction – should be a complete story, up to 3,000 words
  • Flash Fiction – should be a complete story, up to 1,000 words
  • Ten Word Stories – should be a complete story, exactly 10 words (limit 2)
  • Essay – nonfiction, up to 3,000 words
  • Poetry – any form, 2 poems  (each poem should not run longer than 2 pages)

Please submit your best work. I know that’s a lot to ask, but we’re working hard to publish the best and most interesting original new work. We’re open to considering work of a literary nature, but will not consider any submission that degrades or demeans anyone. We’re just not interested in hate material.

Stories and poems are accepted via online submission from February 1 through November 1, annually. That gives us a break over the holidays. If you’re unable to submit online, you may send your story or poem via snail mail:  P.O. Box 760, Folsom, California 95763-0760, USA. If your work has been published previously on Dime Show Review, please wait six months or more before re-submitting.

Simultaneous submissions are acceptable. However, if your work is accepted elsewhere, do the right thing and let us know promptly. We are no longer accepting previously published work.

Response time:  you can generally expect a response from Dime Show Review in two to twelve weeks. If three months goes by and you haven’t received a response, feel free to inquire about the status of your work

Additionally, if your work is selected for publication on Dime Show Review, your story may be selected for audio production. This is a perk, not a requirement and you may choose to opt out of audio. If your work has been accepted for publication at Dime Show Review and you have access to a professional audio studio or quality podcast setup, contact us to submit an audio companion of your work. Alternatively, we may offer to record your production in our professional studios with professional voice over talent without cost on your part and no compensation for converting your work to audio. The idea is to have a quality audio companion where possible. Sound quality is a critical factor at this point. Submitting an MP3 you recorded on your phone isn’t going to work.
