Last Words From His Deathbed by Ethan Leonard

Ethan Leonard is a second-year MFA fiction student at the University of New Hampshire, and the acquisitions editor for Barnstorm. Their work has been published with Kaaterskill Basin Literary Journal, Reservoir, Buffalo Almanack, and has received honors from Glimmer Train and Southwest Review. They’re currently obsessed with Yuri on Ice.


This ten word story was typed on a Triumph Du Jour manual typewriter c. 1940’s. Let’s call her Trudy. Beautiful, crisp type, this German-made machine is a sturdy and reliable friend. Homeliness aside, she’s a champ.
