Can’t Let Go by Mike Little

Once a boy whose only goal survival,
now lives. Smiles and laughter
fill the air while haunting disasters
plague the backdrop of his mind.

So many trauma as a young lad
will not leave, even now. No matter
the distance traveled
the roads crossed,
he shall always live
in this space. Pushing and shoving,

Filling as he goes, settling in
for another day of horror.
He will never quit
as he never did then
but tires nonetheless.

Mike Little was raised in a rough neighborhood, on the street at 14 and ended up in a group home in Oakland. Intervention came later and he was recruited by a group in Arizona where he rode horseback from the Grand Canyon to Rapid City South Dakota. Now he is raising two wonderful children and is a Facility Manager for an Animal Diagnostics Laboratory.
